Teens Helping Seniors is a teen volunteer effort based out of Montgomery County, Maryland. Our team primarily consists of teenagers from various high schools who seek to support vulnerable seniors in times of need.
COVID-19 spurred a myriad of complications for people of all demographics. As we monitored the situations in our communities and even our own families, we quickly recognized the struggle of buying food and other necessities, especially for those most vulnerable.
Seniors and immuno-compromised people face a significantly higher risk of contracting COVID-19, and are prone to more severe symptoms. It’s critical that this demographic is supported in times like these. As teenagers who are in a less vulnerable position, we are committed to providing seniors with basic necessities, such as groceries and pharmacy supplies.
Our service started with one community, but it is quickly expanding as we are serving more seniors every day. We cordially welcome volunteers, and greatly appreciate their generosity in addressing the needs of those most at risk. We currently have over 100 teen volunteers and have made over 120 deliveries within 3 weeks.
